September 21, 2026 – Neenah, WI – Cobblestone Hotels celebrated the groundbreaking of their new hotel in the city of Sturgeon  Bay, Wisconsin.  

Representatives from multiple local agencies were in attendance, including the City of Sturgeon Bay, the Door County Economic Development Corporation, and Destination Door County. Representatives of Community First Credit Union and the Cobblestone Hotels leadership team also came out to celebrate the culmination of over 10 years of planning and passion for this project.  

Representatives from the city voiced their support for this project, anticipating that a hotel along busy Egg Harbor road will play a major role in supporting the tourism and business travel needs in the city and larger Door County. Phil Berndt, Director of Partner Services for Destination Door County, shared that “Lodging is a vital part of Door County’s visitor economy”, remarking that the hotel will provide “a home base for guests who support our restaurants, shops, attractions, and any other local businesses throughout the year.”  

Michelle Lawrie, the Executive Director of the Door County Economic Development Corporation, stated that “The quality of a  Cobblestone and the quality of the team choosing our area in Sturgeon Bay in a major win for Sturgeon Bay, and a major win for  creating momentum in the area”, acknowledging the important role that lodging plays in a city, and also the importance in finding the  right partner for this project in terms of promoting further growth in Sturgeon Bay. 

This location marks Cobblestone’s 32^nd location in the state of Wisconsin, and the decade-long endeavor to bring a hotel to the city is indicative of the brand’s dedication to supporting small towns across their state of incorporation. Jeremy Griesbach, President of  Development with Cobblestone Hotels, shared his enthusiasm for the brand’s expansion within their home state since their  incorporation in 2008, sharing that “From Clintonville, WI to 32 hotels later, we’ve made it all the way to Sturgeon Bay”.  

This hotel will be a sixty-two room facility spanning four floors. Guests will be able to enjoy Cobblestone’s consistent amenities such  as Seattle’s Best Coffee service, high-speed internet access, and a complimentary hot breakfast each morning. Guestrooms will be  equipped with flat-panel televisions, microwaves, refrigerators, and in-room personal coffee brewers.  

The Cobblestone Hotel & Suites will be located at 1026 Egg Harbor Road in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and will feature an indoor  swimming pool, onsite fitness center, and onsite convenience store to meet the needs of those seeking lodging in the Door County  area. The property is being constructed by BriMark Builders and is managed by Slate Hospitality Group.
